THE POWER OF A DREAM
“Life is much better when you wake up every day and all you’re doing is going for your dreams.”
Do you dream? I do not mean the metaphysical dream. I mean the Luther King definition-vision, forward-looking, even though awake. Well, when I joined High school, my school had just signed an Exchange Programme with a school in Scotland and I remember telling my friends that I would go for the Exchange Programme. I was in Year One then so it looked hardly possible to be selected but guess what? I was among the first students to represent the school in the Exchange Programme in Edinburgh. In my final year in High school, I challenged myself to participate in Science Congress competition to the National Level. I remember telling one of the teachers that my project would succeed to the National level which was the highest level of the competition, but she brushed me off. I proved my doubter wrong. My project made it to the National Level. When I joined University, the first thing I promised myself was that I would graduate with First Class of Honours and I graduated with First Class of Honours. That is the Power of a dream.
You can make your dreams come true if you put in the effort and make a reasonable plan. It is not going to be easy. There will be some bumps along the way but you have to stay committed by taking actions towards your dreams every day. Always pray for you dream and turn it into a burning desire. That’s what I do and it works. As they say, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well.”
When you achieve your dream, it is rewarding, very rewarding. You feel alive and proud and it gives you the confidence to go for your next dream. I am on my next dream and I believe I will fulfill it next year.
What are you waiting for?
Set a goal and go for it!
